সাধারণভাবে গণিত ও পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে মাত্রা বলতে কোন গাণিতিক দেশ বা বস্তুর ভেতরে অবস্থিত যেকোনও বিন্দুকে সুনির্দিষ্টভাবে উল্লেখ করতে সর্বনিম্ন যতগুলি স্থানাংকের প্রয়োজন হয়, সেই স্থানাংকের সংখ্যাকে বোঝায়। যেমন একটি সরলরেখা একমাত্রিক, কেননা এটি উপরে অবস্থিত কোনও বিন্দুকে সংজ্ঞায়িত করতে একটি মাত্র স্থানাংকই যথেষ্ট।
